What a fabulous banquet we’ve had!

WISCONSIN RIVER TRAIL NEWS

What a fabulous banquet we’ve had! While it’s taken a bit to settle our checks and balances, our numbers are in from the sold-out, 2nd Annual Hike/Bike Banquet, and they are more than we could have ever asked for! We’d like to thank Boscobel Community Foundation for believing in the WRTO and presenting us with a $5000 check. With that included in our total, the banquet netted approximately $27,500! Phase 2 will now have funding to begin adding to the plans that our UW-Platteville engineering students completed last year for us. We plan this winter on looking at grant applications, contacting landowners in the Boscobel-Woodman area, and working our tails off to create a legacy trail.
As Dean and I packed the car and drove away the Sunday morning after the banquet to make the trek back to California (Ugh!), I couldn’t help but feel so touched by our little community. The atmosphere in the room the night of the banquet was electric, the attendees were kind and understanding that this was only our 2nd time at manning the banquet, and the support for a hiking and biking trail had grown by leaps and bounds. For that, I am thankful and so appreciative!
In the craziness of trying to get one of the area’s favorite bands on stage quickly, we lost the list of businesses and individuals that donated cash to help the WRTO buy so many wonderful gifts for our banquet! We’d like to thank them all, and they include: Boscobel Community Foundation, Robert Morrison, J & J Sewing, Prairie Sand Construction-Brad Bay, Milk Specialties, Pat Foley Plastering, Clark and Holly Jillson, American Family Insurance, Associated Balance and Hearing Clinic, Russ and Susan Beck, Dr. Larry Clark, Cornell Plumbing, Community First Bank, Crooked Creek Repairs, Energy Management Systems, NuPak, Rich and Melissa Uselman, Boscobel Auto Body-Dennis Swenson, Glasbrenner Insurance, Greg Plotz, Boscobel Lions Club, Accounting Associates, Cindy Anderson, Green River Repair, Achenbach/Hynek Printing, and Joey Martin. Our grand total in cash donations was $8230!
A HUGE thank you goes out to Boscobel Bowl & Banquet, Jan, Stacey and Mary, and their great group of employees that worked so hard to make our night perfect (which it was!), as well as to our band, Fast Action, who, after being gone from our stage for most of 19 years, put together one of the most memorable nights we could’ve asked for. We want to thank the area businesses and talented individuals that donated so many amazing gifts/donations/prizes to make this banquet like no other! I hope all 200 of our attendees had as much fun as the WRTO board and volunteers did! Since we were sold out ten days prior to the banquet, if you would like to be on the waiting list for tickets at next year’s banquet, please send me an email at denisefisher5995@gmail.com.
With the end of the tax year approaching quickly, we would like to remind you that we are a 501(c)(3) organization that would be honored to accept your gift of a donation. Also please don’t forget as you purchase holiday gifts through Amazon on-line, order from www.smileamazon.com, which attaches you to a charity but is still the Amazon company, look up our organization (WRTO) and add it to your charity group (it’s easy!). Without any extra charges or donations on your part, the WRTO benefits by Amazon donating .5% cash back for all purchases that you make from Amazon! Every dollar counts and together, as a community, we’re doing it…..We’re building a trail!
The WRTO Board and Volunteers want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts!
